Get Spring Ready with Our Top Cleansing Foods!
Spring has finally sprung and I could not be happier!
I love this time of the year because it feels like the perfect time to shed the heavy weight from our shoulders from the stress of winter.
I’m a huge fan of spring because of the delicious foods that we often start to incorporate once it starts to get nicer out!
In Chinese Medicine, Spring is known to be the best time to start a gentle cleanse. This is because of the seasonal change from a heavy winter into a delicate spring. It's a great time to start a candida cleanse, parasite cleanse or even just an everyday gentle cleanse.
It’s also a really great time for us to start adding in more raw foods. In the winter months, our body craves more rich, wholesome foods like oatmeal, roasted vegetables and soups. In the Spring and Summer months, it’s really recommended that you shift those warming foods into lighter and raw foods like juices, salads, and fruit. Of course, we still want to make sure we are getting in our healthy fats and proteins so you can keep the chicken, beans, avocados and all that jazz!
Some of my top Spring foods are:
I have quinoa prepped in the fridge every single week! It’s a great source of protein and very easily digested by the body. In one serving, you’ll get 8 grams of protein!
These are an absolute spring and summer staple for us! Cucumbers are best to have in the warmer months because they are essentially an incredible source of hydration. Plus, they contain almost every mineral and vitamin necessary!
Whether you’re drinking it as a tea from Traditional Medicinals of having the actual leaf in your salad, you will truly see the benefit of this leafy green within minutes. Dandelion leaves are great for excreting toxins from the body. Just make sure you are drinking tons of water so you don’t off-set the hydration in the body.
Apple Cider Vinegar
This is also a must-have in my Spring collection because as we just mentioned, cooling foods are super important to have in the spring time. Apple cider vinegar is one of the most cooling foods out there so it’s best to have it during this transition. Plus, the benefits of having ACV in your daily routine are endless— think better digestion, clearer skin, no bloat.
I thought I would also leave you with one of my favourite salad recipes for the spring time!

1 cucumber, sliced
1/2 yellow bell pepper, sliced
1/2 red bell pepper, sliced
1/3 red onion, sliced
2 tbsp chopped basil leaves
2 tbsp olive oil
1/2 tsp apple cider vinegar
Squeeze of lemon
1.In a large bowl, add all of the ingredients list above and mix well so the flavours can really submerge with each other.
2.Add in some additional favourites like hemp hearts, goats feta, chia seeds and avocado to make this a true meal!
3.Store in the fridge for up to 3 days.
I hope you enjoy this recipe!
